A New Arrival

Our newest arrival appeared in the early hours of October 8th, 2012.  Her name is Emerie Joy Page. This is the story of how she came to be.

It took us a little while to get pregnant this time around, which in the end turned out to be a HUGE blessing in disguise.  We found out a few days before I found out I was pregnant that Tyler had gotten into school and we would be moving in the summer.  It would have been quite the challenge moving with a tiny baby and a 2.5 year old clear across the country.  When I finally found out, I was 6 weeks along and couldn't have been more ecstatic to give Lyndi a sibling! I was less sick (I'm still not sure if it was because I knew what to expect or because I was actually less sick), and gained more weight early on.  But I was able to hide it until we found out she was a girl.  This pregnancy went by way too fast!  I felt ready for her to come, but also felt like I needed more time with just Lyndi.  I was 7 months pregnant when we moved, then I burned my foot and spent weeks 35-38 in bed, then I started contracting a few weeks before she was due, and before I knew it she was here!

I was due October 2, and my mom came October 3 and stayed with us until the baby came.  I was having 4 minute contractions all night the day my mom got there.  We went to the hospital thinking we were going to have her.  We got sent home :( after being there for 2 hours. The next day I went to my 40 week appointment and learned I hadn't changed at all.  I got my induction date set for October 8th.  I continued contracting irregularly for several days.  We went in after General Conference got over Sunday night to get the gel.  I was supposed to go in the following morning to be induced, but the gel got things going so fast that the labor totaled 3 hours!  My water broke in the car on the way to the hospital and she was coming before we got to the delivery room.  We had to wait 20 minutes for the anesthesiologist and he said it wouldn't even be worth getting an epidural because I was a 10 already.  But having said 15 prayers in that 20 minutes, Heavenly Father granted me the blessing of the epidural working when it shouldn't have. On a side note, I never even got CLOSE to the kind of pain I was in with Emerie when I was delivering Lyndi. Lyndi was a breeze, and I thought I might try going naturally with our next one... I will NEVER go without an epidural unless I have to, haha. She was born at 1:15 AM on October 8th weighing 7.15 lbs and was 21" long.  She is absolutely beautiful and a wonderful addition to our family.  Lyndi has adjusted much better than I thought she would.  She is an amazing big sister, volunteering to get diapers and wipes, and picking out the pinkest clothes every morning for Emerie to wear. :) It's been quite an adjustment, but not as difficult as I thought it would be.  Overall, Emerie has been an easier baby than Lyndi and, of course, this time around I know a little more about being a mom.

We love Emerie and are so glad she's here safe and sound.  She's smiling already and sure loves following Lyndi around the room with her eyes. We are counting our blessings having two beautiful, healthy, sweet little girls in our family of now four.
